WHAT IN TARRNATION

According to some sources, Tarr Béla's first feature, Family Nest, premiered 35 years ago this month. If that's exactly true or not, the excuse of an especially cold and snowy winter here in my corner of the world provides the perfect backdrop for thinking about the cinema of barrenness and death. Thus, I am pleased to announce a new series: typically on Fridays (of which you'll note, today is not one; scheduling is hard sometimes), Antagony & Ecstasy will be hosting a Tarr retrospective. Thrill to the long takes, longer running times, and overwhelming sense of despair! The first bonus piece will be going up this afternoon, with a full review of Family Nest later today.
